Charles S. Lewis, banker and real estate developer, dreamed of an ideal community for homeowners, an oasis outside the quickly growing city of Indianapolis. He envisioned a private neighborhood with stunning landscapes, nature abounding, and recreation for the whole family, and he enlisted famous landscape architect George Edward Kessler for its design. In 1917, his dream became a reality and Brendonwood was established on Indianapolis' north side. This digital collection contains images and documents from the Brendonwood Collection.
