Description |
This photograph shows children playing in the water at Indiana Harbor. Inland Steel can be seen in the upper left of the photograph. Inland Steel was a steel company headquartered in Chicago, IL but it's only steel mill was located in East Chicago, IN. Ruthie Sanchez, Anna Mae Sanchez, Ignatius are the first three on the left. Peter Ayala is on the right in the front. Peter Ayala was born in Indiana Harbor, Indiana in 1931 to Salvador Ayala and Esperanza Ramirez de Ayala. Salvador and Esperanza were from Ecuandureo, Michoacan, Mexico and immigrated to the United States separately at different times; Salvador in 1926 and Esperanza in 1927. They met and married in Indiana Harbor. |
